Biddeford - South Street

About the Project:

This water main replacement project will replace approximately 2,400 feet of old, undersized cast iron water main installed in the 1880s that is original to the water system. This portion of the project work will take place on South Street from Highland Street to Briarwood Drive.

The existing pipe has experienced multiple breaks in the past that have interrupted service and caused other issues. The existing pipe will be replaced with 8-inch ductile iron main. The project will include installation of several fire hydrants and renewal of customer service connections.

Maine Water Company is planning this project in cooperation with the City of Biddeford's sewer separation and the Maine DOT's paving project on South Street.

The City of Biddeford along with Maine Water's respective projects have been awarded to Pratt & Sons Inc. out of Mechanic Falls, ME.
