SJW Group (NYSE: SJW) (“SJW Group”) and Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (“Connecticut Water”) today announced the close of their merger. The combined company, SJW Group, is the third-largest investor-owned pure play water and wastewater utility based on rate base in the United States, serving nearly 1.5 million people across California, Connecticut, Maine and Texas. In connection with the closing of the transaction, Connecticut Water is now a wholly owned subsidiary of SJW Group, and Connecticut Water’s common shares have ceased trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

Employees Paddle With A Purpose

On Saturday, June 1st, a team of Maine Water and Connecticut Water employees paddled along the Kennebec River in the annual Paddle for Pine Tree Camp fundraiser that helps Maine kids and adults with disabilities attend summer camp. More than $3,500 was raised by the team.

Maine Water Files Initial Environmental Permit Applications for New Saco River Water Treatment Facility

Maine Water Company filed applications today with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for state and federal environmental permits in support of their plan to build a new water treatment facility on the Saco River in Biddeford.   The new facility will replace the original water treatment facility along the Saco River that dates back to 1884.  It will provide continued water service to Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach and the Pine Point area of Scarborough.

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Maine Water Award $1,000 Grant to The Opportunity Alliance, the Community Action Agency for Cumberland County

The Opportunity Alliance in South Portland recently received a $1,000 grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Maine Water to provide more fresh, healthy food to families in need in the community.
