The black mold that appears in our customers’ bathroom faucets is not found in our drinking water. It is caused by airborne mold spores that are naturally occurring in our climate. Mold spores can enter your home through open doorways, windows, vents, and heating and air conditioning systems. Mold in the air outside your home can be brought inside on clothing, shoes, bags and pets.
Black Mold is Not a Water Quality Issue
Black mold is a common household problem. Black mold will grow in places where there is moisture, such as around water leaks, windows, drain pipes, or where there has been flooding.
Molds are Living Organisms
All living organisms need water, including mold. Mold can grow on almost any damp surface. There are many species of mold and the mold may not always be black in color.
