Conservation Agreement

Don’t you just love saving a little money here and there? This video explains how an innovative conservation agreement in the Camden/Rockport area will be used to reduce water bills in 2019 for Maine Water customers in the Midcoast. All customers in our Camden/Rockport system will benefit from a credit of 6.74 percent on their regular water bill, starting on January 15, 2019 and continuing until the end of the year. The credit applies to all residential, commercial, industrial and fire protection accounts. If you’re a typical residential customer, you’ll save about $25 in 2019.

It’s the result of an important agreement with the Coastal Mountains Land Trust to conserve nearly 800 acres of watershed land around Mirror Lake in Rockport, the primary drinking water supply source for over 20,000 people in the mid-coast. Maine Water Company, Coastal Mountains Land Trust, Maine Coast Heritage Trust and others all worked together to protect the beautiful watershed land and the critical public drinking water sources you rely on every day.
