Maine Water’s new Kezar Falls facility increases supply, reliability for customers in Parsonsfield, Porter and Hiram
PARSONSFIELD, Maine, Feb. 20, 2026 — A group of local and state leaders recently toured Maine Water’s newest drinking water treatment facility at Kezar Falls, which will ensure an adequate supply of high-quality drinking water and reliable water service for customers well into the future.
The new, $4.6 million facility serves about 480 customers in Parsonsfield, Porter and Hiram through 9.5 miles of water main in the company’s Kezar Falls distribution system.
“At Maine Water, we build to serve for generations. The new Kezar Falls Drinking Water Treatment Facility represents a significant investment in infrastructure to meet the needs of the communities well into the future,” Maine Water President Mark Vannoy said. “Further, it is a concrete example of our commitment to Maine’s smaller water systems—a $4.6 million investment to serve a water system of fewer than 500 customers shows the extensive resources that Maine Water brings to an essential service.”
Noticing a reduction in the quantity of water coming from the previous wells in Kezar Falls, which are located adjacent to the Ossipee River, Maine Water began developing a project for new wells and a modern treatment facility to better serve customers in the division. The previous facility was more than 75 years old.
Working with engineering firm Wright-Pierce, construction of the new facility began in 2024, which also included developing two new wells to replace the existing wells. The facility began serving customers in December 2025.
The new facility and wells will meet the long-term needs of the customers served by the water system, providing reliable, high-quality water service and dependable fire protection in the community. The new facility features energy-efficient equipment and a standby generator, as well as a separated chemical, electrical and treatment space.
Funding for the project came primarily from the Maine Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
